This site was created by Ed Pearlman, who was inducted into the Scots Trad Hall of Fame in 2024 for lifelong services to the Scottish music community. He was the music columnist for 24 years for Scottish Life magazine, and co-led music & walking tours of Scotland from 2009-2022. His columns have been compiled into a book, MusicScapes of Scotland: Vignettes from Prehistory to Pandemic, and chapters from the book, along with photos, stories and music from the music & walking tours are available on Ed’s Scottish Substack. Ed is a fiddle performer and teacher, directed the Boston Scottish Fiddle Club and the Boston’s Celtic Festival at the Hatch Shell; has toured and recorded with his son Neil, his wife, dancer Laura Scott, and others; distributed the recordings of Scotland and Atlantic Canada to U.S. Stores; and created an innovative website to host live online fiddle workshops and learning materials, allowing learners to social distance since 2014 via Zoom! Ed has written three novels and earned a B.A. in Literature from Yale.
