Song #2: THE SLAVE’S LAMENT by Robert Burns

and ST MARINA’S LULLABY (Cypriot traditional)

A collaboration between me and my Greek-Cypriot friend Alkinoos Ioannidis and his band -- and the essence of what I think of as Burns -- international, humane, open-hearted.

Song #1: I BURN BUT I AM NOT CONSUMED

This song and its intro were performed by Polwart at the opening concert of the 2017 Celtic Connections Festival, the day before the first inauguration of Donald Trump. It speaks of his immigrant mother from the Isle of Lewis and tells what the 3-billion-year-old rocks might say about this child of Lewis.
